Tree of Life Pendants
These Tree of Life pendants are all hand-crafted from
dichroic glass, making each one quite unique due to variations in the firing
technique. Any of these would make a stunning gift (for yourself or
another) and a wonderful addition to someone's jewelry collection.
Dichroic
glass dates back to at least the 4th century AD. The main characteristic
of dichroic glass is that it has a particular transmitted color and a completely
different reflected color, as certain wavelengths of light either pass through
or are reflected. This causes an array of color to be displayed. The colors
shift depending on the angle of view. Dichroic glass is an example of
thin-film optics. Multiple, ultra-thin layers of
different metals, such as gold and silver; oxides of titanium, chromium,
aluminum, zirconium, or magnesium; or silica are vaporized by an electron beam
in a vacuum chamber.
The vapor then condenses on the surface of the glass in the form
of a crystal structure. A protective layer of quartz crystal is sometimes added.
The finished glass can have as many as 30-50 layers of these materials, yet the
thickness of the total coating is approximately 30-35 millionths of an inch.
The coating that is created is very similar to a gemstone
and, by careful control of
thickness, different colors may be obtained.
Tree with Birds Pendant $60.00

It depicts a bent tree in a meadow with what appears to be flowing water behind
it, due to the metals used in its creation. Birds soar overhead in the
blue skies while grasses flutter in the breeze.

This pendant measures 1"w X 1 5/8"l with a gold-tone bail at the top. It
features a black cat perched on an ornate fence with a tree branch overhead, set
against a variegated blue background.
Eye of Horus Pendant $60.00
This pendant measures 1.5"w X 1"l with a silver-toned bail at the top. It
features a black Eye of Horus (an Egyptian protection symbol) on a yellow-gold
field. The background changes as the piece moves. Very beautiful.
Spider Pendant $60.00
This pendant measures 1" in diameter and has a silver-tone bail. The
spider and her webbing is black and the field morphs from a deep purple to a
light blue. The perfect piece for someone with a spider totem.
Winter Tree Scene Pendant $60.00
This piece measures 1.5" square with a silver-tone bail. The scene
features two bare trees with three birds gliding by, under a full Moon, all set
in black. The background shows variant blues for water and sky, with many
layers and colors. Brown ground completes the scene.
